Participation in the Ceremony for the Establishment of the Diocese of Caia

H.E. Raúl Domingos participated in the installation ceremony of Bishop António Constantino, the first Bishop of the newly established Diocese of Caia, which took place on 25 February of the current year. His Excellency the Most Reverend Luís Miguel Cárdada, Apostolic Nuncio to Mozambique, conferred office upon the new Bishop of Caia through the Eucharistic celebration and the reading of the Papal Bull by which the Holy Father canonically erected the new Diocese and appointed its Bishop, with Saint Matthew as its patron.

In his homily, the Prelate committed himself to exercising his ministry as a true father, shepherd, and brother to all the faithful, without distinction, guiding the people of God with zeal, humility, and a spirit of service. He also recalled that the Bishop is called to be a visible sign of Christ, the Good Shepherd, promoting unity, communion, and the authentic living of the Gospel within the diocesan community.

The celebration was marked by a profound spirit of faith and joy, witnessing a historic moment for the Catholic community of Caia, which now has its own episcopal jurisdiction, thereby strengthening the evangelizing mission of the Church in the Diocese, which is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Beira.

With the establishment of the Diocese of Caia, Mozambique now has 14 dioceses. This event represents, for the Bishops, a sign of the growth of the Catholic Church in Mozambique and a cause for rejoicing for the people of God, as well as a foundation for peace, social justice, and solidarity.
