Pope Leo XIV Begins Rest Period at Castel Gandolfo

Castel Gandolfo, 6 July 2025 – This afternoon, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV arrived at the papal residence of Castel Gandolfo, where he will spend a period of rest until 20 July. The Holy Father was warmly welcomed by faithful, tourists, and local residents who gathered at the gates of Villa Barberini to greet him.

In a gesture of simplicity and closeness, the Pope stepped out of his car to personally greet those present, bless children, and briefly speak with the crowd. In a particularly moving moment, His Holiness surprised everyone by appearing at the balcony of the Villa to offer another greeting.

According to the Holy See Press Office, the Pope expressed his joy at being in “such a beautiful place,” where he will continue his activities in a spirit of peace and prayer. The Embassy of the Republic of Mozambique to the Holy See joins the Catholic community in this occasion, extending its warmest wishes to the Holy Father for a fruitful and blessed time of rest.
